Napoleon Web Series Opening

Motion Graphics

Napoleon Web Series never made it past the first stages of production. Nevertheless, I was asked to design and produce the opening for the pilot. Based in Washington D.C., the show would tell the story of a socialite bar owner in the trendy neighborhood of Adams Morgan in very much the same format of Bravo TV reality shows.

As for the different intents of my opening, there were quite a few dimensions. First, I wanted to situate the environment, make the D.C. spectator feel included by celebrating a D.C. identity, using the flag of the city and the subway map as symbols. I used live footage to introduce Omar, the owner of the bar. I tried to display the aesthetic of his personal environment by using old engravings that would serve as frames for listing the credits. Indeed, an opening is as much about presenting the show as it is about listing the people that worked on it. I used the idea of a food menu as a support for motivating the design of the whole sequence.
